Earth Hour spotlight: Saturday, March 19, 8:30-9:30 PM

The “Energy Capital of the World” will continue its progress toward becoming the “Energy Conservation Capital” by turning off the lights the nights of Thursday, March 17 – Sunday, March 20, 2016 with a special Earth Hour spotlight on Saturday, March 19, from 8:30 to 9:30 PM. Lights Out Houston started in 2008 as a citywide commitment to energy efficiency by commercial building owners and their tenants. Earth Hour is an annual global celebration where people in more than 172 countries and territories switch off their lights for one hour.

The goal of the program has expanded to establish a sustained reduction in the use of non-essential electricity by all buildings throughout the greater Houston area. Participants are asked to sign a pledge now, committing to reducing energy usage.
